XVII – XVIII century – works by I.T.Pososhkov who suggested
classification of offenders and recommendation for interviewing offenders and
witnesses
XVIII century – works by M.M. Shcherbatov, ideas about taking into
consideration offender’s individual features in criminal sentences and
release on probation.
1874 - First Russian book on forensic psychology by A.F.
Frese “Essay on Forensic Psychology”. It suggested the subject of forensic
psychology as “application of knowledge about normal and abnormal soul life manifestations
for legal questions”.
1903 – Publication of G. Portugalov’s “About Witness Evidence”, I.N. Holchev “Dreaming
Lies” investigating psychology of
testimony.
1907 – Research-Educational Psychoneurological Institute
and Institute of Criminology (1909) with an educational course “Forensic
Psychology” were organized in St. Petersburg on the V.M. Bekhterev’s and D.A.
Dril’s initiative.
1910 – Publication of L.E. Vladimirov’s “Psychological
Investigation in Criminal Court” suggesting using scientific psychological
knowledge in criminal court procedure.
1912 – V.M. Bekhterev suggested “Objective-psychological
method in application to studying criminality”.
1925 – State Institute for Criminality and Criminals
Investigation was organized in Moscow. Similar research groups were organized
in Leningrad, Saratov, Kiev, Kharkov, Minsk, Baku.
1927 – Laboratory of Experimental Psychology at the
Moscow Prosecutor’s Office was organized, where A.R. Luria developed method
of “associated reactions” that is used in the modern polygraph techniques.
1930 – Section “Forensic Psychology” was organized at
the I All-Union Psychological Congress in Moscow. Presentations on results and
prospective of forensic psychology in Russia were made by A.S. Tager, A.E.
Brusilovsky, S.V. Posnyshev.
Early 30-tieth – 60-tieth – Interruption of research and practical work on
forensic psychology due to political repression.
1965 – Start of teaching Forensic Psychology for Law
students all over the country.
1967 – Publications of A.R. Ratinov’s “Forensic
Psychology for Criminal Investigators”.
1968 – Department for Forensic Psychology under A.R.
Ratinov’s guidance at a Research Institute of General Prosecutor’s Office was
organized. Research in the field of Forensic Psychological Expertise guided
by M.M. Kochenov started.
1971 – First All-Union conference on Forensic Psychology
in Moscow.
1974 – Chair for Forensic Psychology at Academy of the
Ministry of Internal Affairs was organized. Forensic psychology was
recognized as a research specialty at the Supreme Attestation Commission for
Candidate and Doctor Degrees.
1974 – Psychological Laboratory at the State Research
Center for Social and Forensic Psychiatry named after V.P. Serbsky was
established. Research and practical work in Forensic
Psychiatric-Psychological Expertise started.
1986 – Second All-Union conference on Forensic
Psychology in Tartu (Estonia).
2003 – Psychological expert service was organized in the
framework of the Ministry of Justice.
2004 – Faculty of Forensic Psychology was organized at
the Moscow University of Psychology and Education in cooperation with the
State Research Center for Social and Forensic Psychiatry named after V.P.
Serbsky.
2005 – All-Russian conference on Forensic Psychiatry in
memoria of M.M. Kochenov took place in the Moscow University of Psychology and
Education.
2006 – Journal “Forensic Psychology” was established.
2007 – Journal “Applied Forensic Psychology” was
established.
